Despite the model number being vrtp3n1c175, no Virginia, it isn't a 175 watt continuous inverter. It is 150 watts. That being said, this unit is smaller and lighter than my other two inverters of about the same power capacity.

1st problem so far:
Unplug the unit under load and it will shut off. There is a warning on the unit that warns that a shut off will occur is used over its rating. It doesn't say how long it will remain off which is a bit of a problem and potential hazard (especially trying to figure out what happened at highway speeds).

I am familiar with this product through work. We used it primarily to power laptops in the work truck. After using the inverter several times, it would no longer power anything. It wouldn't even charge a cell phone. Right now the inverter runs when plugged in, but is not able to transfer power. In other words it is useless.

I bought mine at Costco as well a couple years ago. It worked fine for a while and then started blowing the fuse in my truck. I put it in my wife's car and it blue the fuse in her car as well. The fuse in the unit was fine. I think I might try returning it to Costco.

I was never able to get the USB to power anything either.
